England striker Mason Greenwood bids farewell to Getafe before returning to Manchester United after his loan deal expires.
Greenwood was released on loan by Manchester United to Getafe for the latest season that just ended. After there was a lawsuit outside the field and not in the plans of the “Red Devils”
The 22-year-old striker has impressed in Spain, UFABET scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 36 appearances in all competitions. Helped the team finish 12th in the table, better than last season’s 15th place finish.
After his loan contract expired, Greenwood said goodbye to Getafe before returning to England, while Manchester United are ready to release him permanently this summer.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. Thank you for making me feel welcome and included.”
“I enjoyed every second alongside my teammates and the club. It was a pleasure playing for you guys. I wish everyone good luck,” Greenwood said via his personal IG.
“A bittersweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best.”
All options remain open regarding Greenwood’s future. United’s preference is to secure a permanent sale, but they are willing to loan him out again if they cannot find a buyer. The club are planning to work through the potential options with his family in the coming weeks.
If United cannot seal a move for Greenwood by June 30, a return to training cannot be ruled out. While it is uncertain if he would rejoin the first team set-up, the club cannot, contractually, prevent his return.
